Kimberly Guilfoyle Under Potential Senate Investigation Over $100K Allegation

Kimberly Guilfoyle may face a Senate investigation following allegations that she sought a Trump donor to pay off $100,000 in personal credit card debt.

Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. Ambassador to Greece, is reportedly under scrutiny for potential influence peddling after a recent report detailed allegations against her. According to a bombshell article in the Wall Street Journal, Guilfoyle allegedly attempted to persuade a prominent donor to former President Donald Trump to settle $100,000 in her personal credit card debt prior to her confirmation as ambassador.

Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso, a Republican from Wyoming, expressed concern over the allegations during an appearance on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.” He stated, “What we’ve seen in the reports is very troubling, it’s concerning.” Barrasso went on to predict that an investigation would likely occur, noting, “I would assume the State Department would be conducting that.” He also mentioned that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee would exercise its oversight responsibilities regarding the matter.

Guilfoyle, who was engaged to Donald Trump Jr. until their public split in 2024, was confirmed by the Senate for her ambassadorial role in Athens last year. However, the recent allegations have raised questions about her conduct while in office. The State Department’s Office of Inspector General has already initiated a probe into Guilfoyle for previous alleged misconduct, which includes claims of a lavish lifestyle in Greece, mistreatment of staff, substance abuse, and improper acceptance of gifts.

The latest allegations suggest that Guilfoyle solicited Trump donor Eric Deters to pay her $100,000 American Express bill directly to the credit card company. Reports indicate that she urged Deters to avoid leaving a paper trail and offered to facilitate access to high-level administration officials in return for his assistance. Deters has publicly stated that he did not make the payment.

In light of these allegations, both Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are reportedly “extremely pissed off” with Guilfoyle’s actions and are considering her removal from the ambassadorial position, according to a senior U.S. official cited by the Associated Press.

Rubio responded to the allegations shortly after the Wall Street Journal published its report, emphasizing the need for caution regarding the information being circulated. “You guys walk around thinking that because some source told you something, and you reported it, it’s the gospel,” Rubio remarked. “It’s not the gospel. That’s not the way we do things.”

As the situation develops, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee is expected to take a closer look at the allegations against Guilfoyle, and the public awaits further details on the investigation.
