Air India is enhancing its service to Canada for the winter season with new routes and upgraded aircraft, including the introduction of Boeing 787-9 planes on key routes.

Air India has announced significant enhancements to its service to Canada, including the introduction of new routes and upgraded aircraft. Starting August 1, the airline commenced operations of its brand-new Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the Toronto–Delhi route.

Beginning October 25, Air India will launch seasonal nonstop flights between Toronto and Mumbai, operating three times a week. This new route will make Air India the only airline offering direct service between these two cities this winter, according to a news release from the airline.

The upgraded Boeing 777-300ER, which will operate the Toronto-Mumbai route, features eight private First Class suites, 40 fully flat Business Class beds, and 280 Economy seats, along with onboard WiFi for enhanced passenger experience.

With the expansion of its Mumbai and Delhi services, Air India will increase its premium seat capacity to Toronto by 71%, providing more options in First Class, Business Class, and Premium Economy.

The airline is also increasing its total weekly flights from seven to ten, with all Toronto flights expected to transition to new or significantly upgraded cabin interiors by January 2027. These enhancements will add approximately 4,400 additional seats each month between Canada and India, offering travelers an elevated onboard experience.

During the 2026-27 winter season, Air India plans to operate a total of 20 flights each week from Canada to India. This includes ten weekly flights from Toronto to Delhi, three weekly flights from Toronto to Mumbai, and seven weekly flights from Vancouver to Delhi.

“Canada is one of Air India’s most important international markets, with deep people-to-people connections driving strong demand for travel, particularly during the festive and holiday season,” said Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India. “The launch of our seasonal Toronto-Mumbai service this winter will provide travelers with more choice and convenience at a time when many are traveling to reunite with family and friends.”

Aggarwal further emphasized the airline’s commitment to enhancing its service, stating, “At the same time, we are also progressively introducing our newest aircraft and the latest onboard products to North America, reflecting our intent to put our best foot forward in one of the world’s most competitive long-haul markets. Together, these initiatives mark another important step in our journey to make Air India a world-class airline and the preferred gateway between India and the world.”

Through its hubs in Mumbai and Delhi, Air India offers seamless connections for customers traveling to and from Canada to various destinations in India, including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ludhiana, and Vadodara, among others.

Flights are available for booking through various channels, including Air India’s website and mobile app, customer contact center, and travel agents worldwide.

According to the airline’s announcement, these developments reflect Air India’s strategy to enhance its service offerings and cater to the growing demand for travel between Canada and India.
