Laura Loomer Claims Amy Acton Concealed 1993 Driving Conviction

Laura Loomer Claims Amy Acton Concealed (1)

Laura Loomer has accused Ohio gubernatorial nominee Amy Acton of failing to disclose a 1993 driving conviction on her medical license application, raising questions about her past.

Ohio Democratic gubernatorial nominee Amy Acton is facing scrutiny following allegations made by conservative activist Laura Loomer regarding a 1993 driving conviction. Loomer claims that Acton did not disclose this offense on her application for a state medical license.

Loomer shared her allegations in a post on X, referencing a case from the Franklin County Municipal Court involving “Amy L. Beech,” the name Acton used prior to her marriage. According to court records, the case, identified as 1993 TR D 118681, indicates that the offense occurred on May 6, 1993. The charge listed is “DRIVE UNDER SUSP/REV,” which is classified as a first-degree misdemeanor. The records show that Acton entered a no-contest plea, resulting in a guilty disposition dated May 20, 1993, along with six points assessed against her driving record.

The court documentation also includes ticket number S43543 and confirms that the case was filed in Franklin County Municipal Court, where it is marked as closed. Loomer pointed out that this case involved a violation of Ohio Revised Code Section 4507.02(B), which pertains to driving with a suspended or revoked license. Historical Ohio court records indicate that such violations are indeed categorized as first-degree misdemeanors.

The Franklin County Municipal Court’s Criminal/Traffic Department is responsible for processing records related to driver’s license suspensions and reporting relevant points to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

The second aspect of Loomer’s allegations focuses on Acton’s 1994 application for an Ohio medical license. Loomer asserts that the application inquired whether the applicant had ever been convicted or found guilty of a violation of any law, excluding minor traffic violations, and claims that Acton answered “no.” Loomer argues that because the 1993 offense was classified as a first-degree misdemeanor, it should have been disclosed on the medical application.

However, the sources reviewed do not independently verify the complete contents of Acton’s original 1994 application or confirm whether she answered as Loomer described. Current records from Ohio’s medical licensing database indicate that Acton, whose full name is Amy Stearns Acton, holds medical license number 35.066895. This license was issued on June 16, 1994, and remains active, with an expiration date set for July 1, 2027.

These allegations arise amid a closely monitored gubernatorial race in Ohio, where Acton is competing against Republican nominee Vivek Ramaswamy. Acton’s past records have become a focal point for Republican campaign advertisements and attacks, including controversies surrounding her medical licensing history. In September, PolitiFact reported that a pro-Ramaswamy advertisement made misleading claims based on documents from Acton’s 1994 medical licensing application and subsequent records.

Acton’s campaign has previously countered attacks related to her medical records, asserting that opponents have omitted critical context from documents dating back several decades.

Loomer’s recent post also raises questions about the circumstances surrounding Acton’s driver’s license suspension in 1993. The court record does not specify the reason for the suspension, and Loomer’s suggestion that it may have involved impaired driving is not substantiated by the cited record.

As of now, the sources reviewed do not confirm that Acton intentionally concealed the 1993 conviction from Ohio voters or that she knowingly provided false information to the Ohio medical board. These remain allegations made by Loomer and should be distinguished from the documented court record.

According to The American Bazaar, the unfolding situation continues to draw attention as the gubernatorial race progresses.
