The Biden administration is under scrutiny after a Salvadoran illegal immigrant, released at the border, was arrested for the fatal stabbing of a Fairfax County mother.

A federal source has revealed that the suspect in the Fairfax County stabbing, Alexis Antonio Cedillos-Campos, is a Salvadoran national who entered the United States illegally and was released at the southern border during the Biden administration.

Cedillos-Campos, a 19-year-old, was apprehended and subsequently allowed entry into the U.S. in El Paso, Texas, in April 2024. According to the source, his release has drawn significant criticism from various political figures.

“[Former President Joe] Biden and [former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro] Mayorkas hand-delivered alleged killer Cedillos-Campos to the streets of Fairfax County. They recklessly unleashed millions of unvetted illegal aliens into American communities and abused the law to do so,” a DHS spokesperson stated.

Fairfax County Police arrested Cedillos-Campos on Wednesday, charging him with second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of 42-year-old Carmen Lizet Puch. He is currently being held in the Prince George’s County jail, pending extradition to Fairfax County.

Puch was discovered unconscious by a jogger near a popular trail in the affluent Northern Virginia suburb. Authorities reported that she had sustained trauma to her upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene. Fairfax County Police Captain Jason Chandler provided details during a news conference, indicating that Puch had been stabbed inside her vehicle.

Originally from Reston, a suburb of Washington, D.C., Puch was a mother to a young daughter and worked at a nearby restaurant. Friends described her as soft-spoken and hardworking, dedicated to supporting her child.

This incident is not isolated; Fairfax County has witnessed a troubling pattern of violent crimes involving immigrants in the country illegally, particularly those admitted under the Biden administration. One notable case involved 18-year-old Salvadoran immigrant Israel Flores Ortiz, who entered the U.S. illegally in 2024 and was convicted this year for assaulting underage girls at Fairfax High School.

Earlier this year, Fox News Digital reported on several homicides and other violent crimes in Fairfax County linked to illegal immigrants. The situation has prompted criticism of Democratic Governor Abigail Spanberger regarding her administration’s handling of crime related to illegal immigration.

On her first day in office, Spanberger rescinded an executive order from her predecessor, Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin, which directed state law enforcement to assist federal immigration authorities. She also mandated the termination of all 287(g) agreements with ICE and prohibited ICE from using state property for immigration enforcement activities.

In response to the recent stabbing, the White House has placed blame on the Biden administration’s immigration policies for Cedillos-Campos’ presence in the country. White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis stated, “This brutal killing of this mother was 100% preventable. The Biden administration released this illegal alien MURDERER into our country.” She further criticized “extreme Democrat politicians’ open border policies,” citing the violent crimes that have ensued.

As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of Carmen Lizet Puch, while the political ramifications of this incident unfold. The situation raises questions about immigration policy and public safety in the region.
