Congress has condemned a letter from the CRPF regarding security protocol breaches involving Rahul Gandhi, questioning whether the government is unsettled by his allegations of vote theft.

New Delhi: The Congress party has reacted strongly to a letter from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) addressed to its President, Mallikarjun Kharge, which highlighted repeated lapses in security protocol during Rahul Gandhi’s foreign trips. The letter warned that such breaches could expose Gandhi to serious risks. In response, Congress has suggested that the government may be rattled by Gandhi’s recent allegations of vote theft.

The CRPF’s communication, which was made public, raised concerns about “unscheduled trips” and violations of security protocols by Gandhi. Sources indicate that the letter specifically addressed security practices related to the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

According to the CRPF, despite being under Z+ security cover with an Advance Security Liaison (ASL) team, Rahul Gandhi has neglected mandatory protective measures on multiple occasions. Sunil June, the Chief of VVIP Security for the CRPF, alleged that Gandhi was not taking his security seriously, often traveling abroad without prior notification.

The letter detailed at least six foreign trips made by Gandhi to countries including Italy, Vietnam, Dubai, Qatar, London, and Malaysia. It emphasized that high-security protectees are required to inform their security teams in advance about all movements, including international travel, to ensure adequate security arrangements are in place, as outlined in the “Yellow Book” protocol.

In a pointed response, Pawan Khera, chairperson of the Congress media and publicity department, questioned the timing of the letter’s release, suggesting it was an attempt to intimidate Gandhi. He noted that the letter’s public disclosure coincided with Gandhi’s efforts to expose alleged vote theft by the BJP, which he claims is facilitated by the Election Commission.

Khera expressed his concerns on social media platform X, stating, “The timing of the CRPF’s letter and its instant public release raise disturbing questions. It comes just as Rahul Gandhi is leading the charge against the BJP’s Vote Chori carried out with the Election Commission’s complicity.”

He further challenged the government, asking, “Is this a veiled attempt to intimidate the Leader of Opposition, who has already announced another imminent disclosure? Is the government rattled by the truth he is about to reveal?”

In recent months, Gandhi has traveled to several countries while simultaneously targeting the government over alleged electoral misconduct, asserting that the Election Commission has colluded with the BJP in what he describes as vote theft.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, the Congress party remains steadfast in its criticism of the government’s actions, framing the CRPF’s letter as part of a broader strategy to undermine opposition voices.
