The survey, conducted by Impact Research from August 24 to August 31, indicates that Dandiya’s lead expands to 49% to 44% after voters receive additional information about both candidates.
The poll also revealed that the district’s generic congressional ballot is tied, with 46% of voters indicating support for a Democratic candidate and an equal percentage favoring a Republican candidate.
According to The New York Times’ polling tracker, Florida’s 22nd District is among the closely watched House races this election cycle. Other public polling has corroborated the tight nature of the contest; a Tavern Research survey conducted from August 10 to August 12 found both Askar and Dandiya tied at 50% each among 551 likely voters.
It is important to note that the House Majority PAC poll was sponsored by a Democratic group, which may influence the interpretation of the results. The current publicly available polling includes both the 50%-50% Tavern Research survey and the 46%-44% Impact Research survey.
Pia Dandiya is a first-time congressional candidate and former educator whose parents immigrated from India. She initially entered the race for Florida’s 21st Congressional District but shifted her focus to the newly configured 22nd District following the state’s mid-decade redistricting.
Born in Palm Beach County, Dandiya served as a White House fellow at the U.S. Department of Education during the Biden administration. Her background includes experience as an educator and school principal. Dandiya won the Democratic primary on August 18, while Askar secured the Republican nomination, setting the stage for the general election on November 3.
By August, Dandiya had raised over $2 million and garnered support from various Democratic political figures and organizations.
The 22nd District underwent significant changes during Florida’s 2026 redistricting process, merging portions of Broward, Palm Beach, Collier, and Hendry counties. This new configuration makes historical election results less relevant to the current race. The Guardian has described the district as geographically diverse, encompassing urban, suburban, and rural areas of South Florida.
Previously represented by Democrat Lois Frankel, the district is now an open-seat contest. Dandiya has centered her campaign on issues such as household costs and economic security. The available public surveys suggest a tightly contested race, with both candidates within a few percentage points of each other. The August Tavern Research poll indicated a tie at 50% each, while the later Impact Research poll showed Dandiya ahead by two percentage points.
As the November 3 election approaches, these polling results reflect a closely divided electorate, indicating that neither candidate has a significant advantage. The outcome will ultimately determine who will represent the newly configured district in Congress.
