Rep. Ilhan Omar’s sister, Sahra Noor, was questioned by federal investigators following a dramatic raid on Omar’s home as part of an immigration fraud investigation.
Rep. Ilhan Omar’s older sister, Sahra Noor, was questioned by federal investigators last week in connection with an immigration fraud probe involving the congresswoman, according to sources familiar with the investigation. Noor voluntarily spoke with investigators following a high-profile raid on Omar’s residence in Washington, D.C., which occurred early Monday morning.
Details surrounding the conversation between Noor and the investigators remain unclear. Like Omar, Noor fled civil war in Somalia as a child and now resides in Kenya, according to her LinkedIn profile. She has been in the United States recently to promote her new book, “Salt in the Snow: A Somali Immigrant Story.”
In light of the raid and subsequent questioning, Noor canceled a scheduled book tour event in Minnesota. The event was set for Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the University of Minnesota Rochester, and was promoted by Garden Party Books, a local bookstore that expressed support for the event alongside the university and the Rochester Public Library. A representative from Garden Party Books stated that the cancellation was due to a “family emergency,” which has now been linked to Noor’s questioning by federal authorities.
The raid on Omar’s home was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the primary investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Sources confirmed that the agency executed a search warrant related to an immigration fraud investigation, specifically examining whether Omar or her father provided false information on her citizenship application.
Tom Homan, the Border Czar, indicated over the weekend that if the allegations are substantiated, they could potentially lead to Omar’s denaturalization. During the raid, federal agents seized Omar’s personal phone, passport, and computer, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. In response, Omar’s attorneys have demanded the return of some of the confiscated items.
Additionally, The New York Times reported that around a dozen individuals, including Omar’s relatives, have been subpoenaed as part of the ongoing investigation. Since the raid, Omar has not been seen publicly, although her husband has been spotted walking their dog and interacting with aides outside their home.
Omar has not responded to repeated requests for comment from Fox News Digital, but she did address the raid on social media. In a statement posted shortly after the incident, she described the raid as “an outrageous abuse of power” and an “unprecedented escalation in the weaponization of federal law enforcement to target political enemies.”
Omar’s statement continued, accusing former President Donald Trump of targeting her with inflammatory rhetoric for a decade, which she claims has culminated in the federal raid. “No president should be able to use the power of the federal government to intimidate his political enemies,” she asserted.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Vice President JD Vance emphasized that the investigation is not politically motivated. “We don’t want to be like the Biden administration,” he stated, asserting that the law should dictate the course of action. “If justice requires something else be done, then, of course, we’ll take a step when we have to,” he added.
Fox News Digital reached out to Noor for comment but did not receive a response prior to publication. Omar’s attorneys also did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
This ongoing investigation has drawn significant attention, raising questions about the implications for both Omar and her family. As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how it will affect Noor’s book promotion and Omar’s political career.
According to Fox News Digital, the investigation continues to unfold, with potential ramifications for those involved.
