CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke Vows to Continue Activism After Loss

CJP Announces Jail Bharo Andolan

Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party, returns to Maharashtra following his grandmother’s death and vows to continue political activities despite recent detention in Delhi.

Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), is returning to his home state of Maharashtra after being released from detention in Delhi and following the death of his grandmother. Dipke’s grandmother, Savitribai Shankarrao Dipke, passed away at her residence in Santuk Pimpri village, located in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. She was 85 years old and had reportedly been unwell for about a month, having previously received treatment at a local hospital. Her last rites are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sunday.

In a post on X, Dipke announced his departure and expressed his desire to be with his family during this time of bereavement. He also indicated that fellow party members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka would hold a press conference in Delhi to address the situation following their detention during a protest-related visit to the capital.

Dipke described the day of his detention, October 10, as “the beginning of the end of this dictatorship.” He asserted that the CJP would not be intimidated or retreat from its political stance, emphasizing the party’s commitment to its activities despite the recent challenges.

The CJP leaders, including Dipke, Das, and Ranka, had traveled from Mumbai to Delhi to participate in a protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. However, upon their arrival in the national capital, Delhi Police detained them inside their aircraft shortly after it landed.

The CJP’s protest aimed to address concerns regarding the Election Commission’s SIR exercise and to call for the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. Opposition parties have raised allegations of irregularities in the electoral process, particularly concerning voting rights. Despite the police’s denial of permission for the demonstration, tensions escalated, with reports of protesters attempting to breach barricades and incidents of stone-pelting near Akashwani Bhawan, resulting in injuries to two police personnel.

The CJP has claimed that its leaders were detained to prevent their participation in the protest and alleged that they were moved to an undisclosed location following their detention. As the situation unfolds, Dipke’s return to Maharashtra marks a significant moment for the party as it navigates the aftermath of these events.

According to The Sunday Guardian, the CJP remains steadfast in its resolve to challenge the current political climate and advocate for electoral integrity.
