DALLAS, TX — The Global Organization for People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) officially launched its Dallas Chapter on March 29, 2026, during a prestigious ceremony at Bhartiya Nivas. The event, attended by a cross-section of the South Asian diaspora, was hailed as a significant step forward in strengthening community advocacy and representation in North Texas. The event served as a high-profile gathering of diplomatic figures, community stalwarts, and professionals, all coming together to launch a unified platform for the region’s rapidly growing Indian population.
The ceremony reached a significant milestone as the chapter was officially inaugurated with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. This symbolic gesture was led by Consul General D.C. Manjunath, Dr. Thomas Abraham, and Prakash Shah, alongside the local leadership team, including Mr. & Mrs. Muthu Mudaliar (Chapter President), Mr. & Mrs. Bharat Bhakta (Joint Treasurer), and Mr. & Mrs. Vinoth Mani (Executive Vice President).
Distinguished Guests & Keynote The inauguration featured Hon’ble D.C. Manjunath, Consul General of India (Houston), as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, he commended GOPIO’s 36-year legacy and highlighted that the new Dallas chapter will serve as a vital bridge between the local community and global initiatives. He emphasized the essential role of the Indian diaspora in bolstering Indo-US relations, while noting the steadfast commitment of organizations like GOPIO to safeguarding the interests of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) globally.

Joining him were Dr. Thomas Abraham (GOPIO Founder Chairman), who detailed the organization’s historic accomplishments, and Prakash Shah (GOPIO President). Local leadership, including Chapter President Muthu Mudaliar and Joint Treasurer Bharat Bhakta, delivered felicitation speeches to mark the official launch of the new chapter.”
Cultural & Community Highlights The program was expertly MCed by Shabnam and included:

A Vision for Dallas, as highlighted in recent Malayalam media reports, the establishment of this chapter responds to the rapid growth of the Indian population in the DFW metroplex. The chapter aims to provide a unified platform for professional networking, social advocacy, and cultural preservation.
