Dillon Fillion, a 22-year-old Iowa House candidate, aims to inspire Gen Z to embrace conservatism while advocating for tax cuts, police funding, and parental involvement in education.

Dillon Fillion, a 22-year-old Domino’s delivery driver, is making headlines as he runs for a seat in the Iowa House of Representatives. As one of the youngest candidates ever to seek office in Scott County, Fillion hopes to inspire his generation to embrace conservative values and make a significant impact in his swing district.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Fillion expressed his ambitions to cut property taxes, increase funding for law enforcement, and enhance parental involvement in education. He believes that young voters are eager for fresh perspectives in politics, stating, “I think people are very excited that a young person is running because they see a lot of these old people running for office. No offense to them, but people want to see some fresh new faces, and I think it’s time for my generation to step up.”

Before embarking on his political journey, Fillion took a gap year from Scott Community College, where he is pursuing a degree in criminal justice. Balancing his responsibilities as a delivery driver and a candidate, he describes his campaign efforts as juggling “two full-time jobs.”

Initially, Fillion envisioned a career in professional hockey, but his interests shifted towards politics in 2019. He became increasingly concerned about the political landscape after witnessing accusations against former President Donald Trump regarding collusion with Russia. This experience prompted him to research what he perceived as corruption within the Democratic Party, leading him to become politically active.

His campaign slogan, “Keep Iowa Great!” reflects his commitment to the values he holds dear. Fillion’s upbringing, characterized by Christian family values and a strong work ethic, has shaped his principles and aspirations. He credits conservative commentator Charlie Kirk with helping young men in his generation find purpose and embrace conservative ideals. “The men in my generation are really conservative. They admire conservative principles,” Fillion noted. “I do think my generation is going in the right direction in regard to conservatism. It’s just, I think my generation needs to turn out more in our elections.”

Fillion is challenging incumbent Democratic state Representative Daniel Gosa for a seat representing Iowa’s 81st House District. He believes he has the opportunity to bring about meaningful change in his district and is advocating for a leadership overhaul. “I wouldn’t be in this race if I didn’t think I could win it,” he asserted. “However, my Democrat opponent does not stand up for the things that this district cares about.”

Among Fillion’s notable endorsements are Senator Rick Scott of Florida and Iowa House Majority Leader Bobby Kaufmann, which bolster his campaign’s credibility. One of his primary objectives is to eliminate property taxes entirely. If that goal is not immediately achievable, he plans to work towards lowering taxes as much as possible. “I want to keep Iowa number one in affordability,” he emphasized.

Crime and education are also at the forefront of Fillion’s campaign. He has pledged to introduce a constitutional amendment for the Back the Blue Act, aimed at ensuring police officers are protected and able to perform their duties effectively. Additionally, he advocates for empowering parents and teachers in the education of their children, asserting that parents should play a central role in their children’s education rather than the government.

Ultimately, Fillion’s vision is to make Iowa “the number one state to live, work, and raise a family.” As voters prepare to head to the polls in November, he aims to spread optimism and demonstrate that Gen Z is committed to making a positive impact on the world. “I just want our country to know that there are people in my generation that are doing everything they can to try and save this country,” he concluded.

According to Fox News, Fillion’s campaign reflects a growing trend among young conservatives who are eager to influence the political landscape in their favor.
