SACRAMENTO, CA – California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced the appointment of Shweta Maurya as Senior Product Manager at the state’s Office of Data and Innovation. Maurya, a resident of Campbell, California, will leverage her extensive background in technology and management to enhance the state’s data initiatives.

Before her appointment, Maurya worked at Chime, a financial technology company, from 2019 to 2025. During her tenure there, she held various roles that encompassed strategy, operations, and program management. Her experience at Chime has equipped her with valuable insights into product development and user experience.

Prior to her time at Chime, Maurya served as a program manager at Amazon, where she honed her skills in project management and cross-functional collaboration. She began her career as a mechanical engineer at Randall Lamb, which provided her with a strong technical foundation.

Maurya holds an MBA from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado. Her educational background complements her professional experience, making her well-suited for the challenges of her new role.

The position of Senior Product Manager at the Office of Data and Innovation does not require Senate confirmation. Maurya will receive an annual salary of $154,860 as part of her new appointment.

According to India-West, Maurya’s expertise is expected to contribute significantly to the state’s efforts in improving data-driven decision-making and innovation.
