Royal Mail has issued a disruption alert affecting 35 postcode areas in the UK, resulting in delayed mail deliveries this weekend.

Royal Mail has announced a disruption alert for this weekend, indicating that 35 postcode areas across the UK will experience delays in mail deliveries. The postal service aims to deliver letters six days a week, along with parcel services on Sundays, but certain local issues will hinder timely deliveries.

The delays are expected to occur on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7. Royal Mail has stated that while they strive to deliver to all addresses, some local offices may face challenges due to factors such as high levels of sick absence and resourcing issues.

In a recent statement, Royal Mail emphasized their commitment to minimizing disruptions. “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues,” the statement read. They further assured customers that they would rotate deliveries to reduce the impact on individual recipients and provide targeted support to affected offices.

Royal Mail expressed their apologies for any inconvenience caused by these delays and thanked customers for their understanding during this time.

The areas impacted by the delivery disruptions include Nottingham, Oxfordshire, Ashington, Ilfracombe, and Pontyclun, among others. The specific postcode areas experiencing delays are as follows:

Aberdare DO (CF44, CF45)

Ashington DO (NE22, NE62 – NE64)

Banbury DO (OX15 – OX17)

Bicester DO (OX25, OX26, OX27)

Pontyclun DO (CF72)

This year, Royal Mail has set ambitious targets to improve their service, aiming for 85% of First Class Next Day deliveries to be met within nine months, with a goal of reaching 90% as mandated by the regulator Ofcom within a year.

According to The Sunday Guardian, Royal Mail is actively working to address these challenges and restore their service to the high standards expected by customers.
