Sindhu advanced to this stage after receiving a bye in the opening round and then defeating Chiu Pin-chian of Chinese Taipei with a score of 21-19, 21-14 earlier in the day. This upcoming match is crucial for Sindhu as she aims to secure a place in the quarterfinals.
A two-time Olympic medalist, Sindhu is looking to add another Asian Games singles medal to her impressive collection. She previously won a silver medal at the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games, where she made history as the first Indian badminton player to reach the women’s singles final.
