Dr. Sumul N. Raval, an internationally renowned neuro-oncologist and recognized authority on brain tumor treatment, was honored at the 2025 Leadership Dinner organized by the Northern New Jersey Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA). He is the founder and director of New Jersey’s first comprehensive Brain Tumor Center, established at Monmouth Medical Center. This state-of-the-art facility provides academic-level care for brain tumor patients, a dream realized by Dr. Raval to ensure that patients receive world-class treatment in their local surroundings. Today, the center attracts patients not only from across the United States but also globally.
His facility, the David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center, is renowned for its innovative approaches in treating brain tumors and improving patient outcomes. Dr. Raval’s dedication to providing compassionate care has earned him accolades, including the GBM Heroes Award presented at the 21st Annual Scientific Meeting of the Society for Neuro-Oncology organized by CURE® magazine.
Dr. Raval is a board-certified neurologist and one of the few neuro-oncologists in private practice within the U.S. His expertise is further solidified by his neuro-oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Raval’s philosophy, built on the belief that quality of life is just as crucial as battling the disease, drives his compassionate approach to patient care. He is known for his ability to inspire positive thinking among those he treats, often listening deeply to their concerns and providing hope through his empathetic manner.
