Anamika Khanna, an Indian fashion designer, will debut an exclusive collection in September in collaboration with H&M. The new collaboration between Khanna and H&M paves a path for Indian designs, leading to a formative launch onto the global fashion market spotlighting India’s rich fashion craft and tapestry. Anamika Khanna shapes traditional designs with articulated modern patterns in her creations. With the collaboration on the run, we could see a more relaxed edge to the designs.

Anamika launched her career in the year 1998 and worked her way to become the top designer in India. In 2007, she became the first Indian woman to showcase her designs at Paris Fashion Week. One of her best creations is known to be dhoti pants, followed by zardosi designs, kaftans, and lehengas.

In conversations with Harper’s Bazaar, Anamika shared her insight on the collection. She said, “It’s versatile, relaxed, and loungy yet fit for dates and evenings; easy and timeless.” She added, “It’s a lot of fun—a shirt you can wear with jeans, as a dress, or with pyjamas.”

Khanna is the second Indian designer to work with H&M, after Sabyasachi Mukherjee in 2021. In 2015, H&M launched their first outlet in India, and by now there are about 62 stores in the country, laid out in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
