The Indian Army celebrated Hajipeer Day by hoisting a 72-foot national flag at Cheeta Post, Baramulla’s highest peak, with local community members in attendance.

On Hajipeer Day, the Indian Army’s Dagger Division proudly raised a 72-foot national flag at Cheeta Post, the highest peak in Baramulla district, North Kashmir, situated at an altitude of 7,000 feet.

The ceremony, organized in collaboration with the Flag Foundation of India, attracted a large crowd of locals, including schoolchildren and community leaders. Senior Army officials, including the Corps Commander and the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 19 Infantry Division, were present to commemorate this significant occasion.

This initiative is part of the Army’s ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with local communities and promote a shared sense of national pride and unity in the region.

Ashim Kohli, CEO of the Flag Foundation of India, addressed the gathering and highlighted the increasing wave of patriotism in the Valley. “It’s a significant change. What we once dreamed is now turning into reality. People in Kashmir are themselves approaching us for national flags. This surge of patriotism will help build stronger ties between Kashmiris and the Army,” he stated.

Earlier this month, the Indian Army also hoisted the national flag on a large pontoon structure floating in the middle of Dal Lake in Srinagar. This tricolour, visible from various parts of the city, was installed with support from the Flag Foundation and quickly became a symbol of peace and unity.

Such initiatives have garnered widespread support among the local population, with increasing participation in national day celebrations and public outreach events led by the armed forces. The commitment to fostering community relations and promoting national pride continues to resonate throughout the region.

According to The Sunday Guardian, the event at Cheeta Post marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to bridge connections between the Indian Army and the local populace.
