A 39-year-old man has been arrested in Delhi for allegedly raping his 65-year-old mother twice, claiming it was a punishment for her past relationships.
A 39-year-old man has been taken into custody for allegedly raping his 65-year-old mother on two occasions. He reportedly justified his actions as punishment for an alleged relationship she had in the past.
The incident came to light when the woman, accompanied by her 25-year-old daughter, approached the Hauz Qazi police station to file a complaint. The assaults reportedly occurred shortly after the family returned from a religious trip to Saudi Arabia.
According to the complaint, the woman resides in Delhi’s Hauz Qazi area with her husband, a retired government employee, her accused son, and a younger daughter. The family also includes an elder daughter who is married and lives nearby with her in-laws.
On July 17, the woman, her husband, and younger daughter traveled to Saudi Arabia. During their trip, the accused son contacted his father, insisting that he return to Delhi immediately. He also urged his father to divorce his mother, alleging that she had engaged in illicit relationships during his childhood.
Upon their return to Delhi on August 1, the accused locked his mother in a room, forced her to remove her burqa, and physically assaulted her. He reportedly claimed that she had “spoiled” him during his childhood.
Following this incident, the woman left her home and sought refuge at her elder daughter’s residence. She returned on August 11, but the abuse continued. On the night of August 11, around 9:30 PM, the accused requested to speak with his mother privately. He again locked her in a room, raped her, and reiterated that he was punishing her for her “past relationships.”
The following incident occurred on August 14 at approximately 3:30 AM, when the accused raped her a second time.
The next day, the woman confided in her younger daughter about the abuse. Encouraged by her daughter, she decided to approach the police. The two women went to the Hauz Qazi police station, where they submitted a written complaint.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused has been arrested, and an investigation is currently underway.
