Kuldeep Yadav, the prominent Indian left-arm wrist-spinner, has signed with Yorkshire as an overseas player for the remainder of the domestic cricket season.
LEEDS — Kuldeep Yadav, a premier Indian left-arm wrist-spinner, has officially joined the English county side Yorkshire as an overseas player for the remainder of the domestic season. The club made the announcement on July 22.
As part of the agreement, Kuldeep will participate in five One-Day Cup matches before returning to Headingley for three of Yorkshire’s final four County Championship fixtures scheduled for September. He is set to make his debut for the club in a 50-over match against Glamorgan at Neath on July 24.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Kuldeep stated, “I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of playing in English conditions, and after speaking with the management, I became really excited to join up with the team. I’m looking forward to making a positive contribution during my time at Headingley.”
Yorkshire’s general manager of cricket, Gavin Hamilton, emphasized that Kuldeep’s arrival would bolster the club’s bowling attack during the crucial closing stages of the season.
“Given the dry summer we’ve experienced, we expect spin to play an important role during the closing stages of the season. Kuldeep gives us another dimension with his left-arm wrist spin and brings a wealth of experience at the highest level. We’re delighted to welcome him to Yorkshire,” Hamilton remarked.
Kuldeep joins a number of fellow Indian cricketers who are also participating in county cricket this season, including Yuzvendra Chahal (Northamptonshire), Jaydev Unadkat (Sussex), Manav Suthar (Warwickshire), R. Sai Kishore (Gloucestershire), and Ashutosh Sharma (Hampshire).
