Indian American groups, led by the Federation of Indian Associations, participated in the Arlington Heights Memorial Day Parade, honoring U.S. service members who lost their lives in military service.
CHICAGO, IL – The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA)-Chicago took part in the Memorial Day Parade held in Arlington Heights on May 25. The event brought together local residents, veterans, and various community organizations to pay tribute to U.S. service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in military service.
Organizers highlighted that Arlington Heights has lost 67 residents in service to the nation, underscoring the significance of the annual parade as a vital component of the town’s Memorial Day observance.
FIA-Chicago played a leading role in representing the Indian American community, with numerous community leaders and organizations actively participating in the event.
Among those in attendance were representatives from the Federation of Indian Associations, Sanatan Ecosystem, Sewa International, Global Indian Diaspora, Shree Jalaram Mandir, Maharashtra Mandal, Overseas Friends of BJP, Ekal Vidyalaya, Vishva Hindu Parishad of America, Karni Sena, and the Hindu Women Network.
A notable aspect of the delegation was the presence of Indian Army Brigadier Navin Ahuja and Indian Army veteran Arvind Ankleshwaria. Both veterans received recognition from the parade committee, alongside active-duty and retired military personnel, during the Memorial Day tribute.
This participation not only reflects the commitment of the Indian American community to honor those who have served but also fosters a sense of unity and remembrance within the broader Arlington Heights community.
