Actress Genelia Deshmukh has announced her return to the film industry with the action movie ‘Gunmaster G9,’ co-starring Emraan Hashmi, marking a new chapter in her career.
MUMBAI – Actress Genelia Deshmukh has embarked on her next film project, titled ‘Gunmaster G9,’ which stars Emraan Hashmi. She has described this venture as a “new beginning” in her career.
Genelia offered a glimpse into this fresh chapter by sharing a photo on her Instagram Stories. The image features a soft side profile of her face, accompanied by a “New Beginning” sticker and the caption “#GunmasterG9.”
Directed by Aditya Datt, ‘Gunmaster G9’ is an action film that also stars Aparshakti Khurana. The movie is a reimagining of the classic 1979 Indian spy film ‘Surakksha,’ which originally featured Mithun Chakraborty in the role of Gunmaster G9. Music for the film will be composed by Himesh Reshammiya.
In addition to ‘Gunmaster G9,’ Genelia is set to appear in Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming horror comedy ‘Police Station Mein Bhoot,’ where she will share the screen with Manoj Bajpayee. This collaboration marks the first time the two actors will work together.
Genelia began her acting career in 2003 with the Hindi film ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ and gained recognition for her role in the Tamil film ‘Boys’ the same year. She received further acclaim for her performances in the 2008 romantic comedies ‘Santosh Subramaniam’ and ‘Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na.’
Throughout her career, she has appeared in a variety of films, including ‘Satyam,’ ‘Masti,’ ‘Sye,’ ‘Sachein,’ ‘Happy,’ ‘Dhee,’ ‘Ready,’ ‘Katha,’ ‘Urumi,’ ‘Force,’ ‘Velayudham,’ and ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya.’
After marrying Riteish Deshmukh and becoming a mother to two sons, Genelia took a significant hiatus from acting. She made her comeback with the Marathi film ‘Ved’ in 2022, which was well-received.
