Rohit’s ascent to the pinnacle of ODI cricket followed an outstanding performance in India’s recent series against Australia, where he scored an unbeaten 131 runs in the final match held in Sydney. His innings, which included 13 fours and three sixes, marked his 33rd ODI century and played a crucial role in India’s commanding nine-wicket victory. Partnering with Virat Kohli, who contributed an unbeaten 74, Rohit led India to a decisive series win.
With this remarkable performance, Rohit surpassed Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran and his fellow Indian cricketer Shubman Gill, moving ahead with 781 rating points—17 points clear of Zadran. Notably, Ibrahim Zadran briefly held the top position between the second and third ODIs of the series.
