The Vidya Bharati Foundation of America raised $1.3 million for education during its sold-out Los Angeles Gala, held on July 26 at the Sheraton Cerritos Hotel.
CERRITOS, CA – The Vidya Bharati Foundation of America (VBFA) hosted its 2026 Los Angeles Gala at the Sheraton Cerritos Hotel on July 26, attracting over 300 guests from across Southern California. The sold-out event aimed to support value-based education for underprivileged children in India.
The gala brought together community leaders, philanthropists, educators, business professionals, and supporters united by a shared vision of empowering future generations through education. The evening featured inspiring speeches, cultural presentations, musical performances, and a fundraising campaign that successfully raised $1.3 million to benefit Vidya Bharati’s extensive network of schools across India.
Comedian and television personality Rajiv Satyal served as the emcee for the program. Notable attendees included Rajendra Prasad Khaitan, National Vice President of Vidya Bharati in India; Swami Ishwarananda, head of Chinmaya Mission Los Angeles; and actress Prachi Tehlan, known for her role in the Hindi television series ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum.’ VBFA board members Ashok Danda and Dr. Yashpal Arya were also present.
Anil Parekh, National Secretary of the Vidya Bharati Foundation of America and gala chair, delivered the welcome address. “Education is the greatest investment we can make in the future of society. We are deeply grateful to every sponsor, donor, volunteer, and guest whose generosity will help educate thousands of children and strengthen communities across India,” he stated.
The foundation’s President, Dr. Surendra Garg, highlighted the importance of preserving cultural values while providing children with high-quality education. Guests were treated to presentations that showcased Vidya Bharati’s mission and the transformative impact of its schools.
During the event, Jagruti and Raju Patel, Vasant Rathi, Ravi Tilak, and Rani Kumra were recognized for their significant support of the organization.
The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a rendition of Ganesh Vandana performed by seven-year-old Riju Jain. The U.S. and Indian national anthems were sung by Krishna Parekh. The evening concluded with musical performances by Preetysha and Sameer, leaving attendees inspired and motivated to continue supporting education initiatives.
