The BCCI has announced a cash reward of Rs. 131 crores for the Indian cricket team following their historic victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

MUMBAI – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed an impressive cash reward of Rs. 131 crores for the Indian cricket team after their triumphant performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The Men in Blue successfully defended their T20 World Cup title on home soil, making history as the first team to achieve this feat. In 2024, the team received Rs. 125 crores following their victory, marking an increase of Rs. 6 crores in the latest reward.

By defending their title, India became the first team ever to retain the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. This victory also marked a significant milestone, as India became the first nation to win the tournament three times and to do so on home ground.

Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team not only celebrated their victory but also received a substantial financial reward from the International Cricket Council (ICC). The team claimed a winner’s purse of Rs. 21.5 crores, while the runners-up, New Zealand, received Rs. 10.75 crores.

In addition to the team’s accolades, individual players also shone during the tournament. Sanju Samson was named Player of the Series, having scored an impressive 321 runs in just five innings. Jasprit Bumrah earned the title of Player of the Match for his outstanding performance in the final.

This latest reward from the BCCI underscores the growing significance of cricket in India and the board’s commitment to recognizing the achievements of its players.

According to IANS, the cash reward reflects the BCCI’s appreciation for the team’s remarkable accomplishments in the T20 format.
